converted between 1980-82 from an orphanage, after the leader asked SOS for help. Near the international airport this
village, through its SOS initiated infra-structure (Roads, electricity,
water, telephone etc) was a seed for expanding the organisation. Originally
only populated by small farmers the village area's population has increased twenty-fold, without the according expansion of the infrastructure. The zone has become a slum, with all the negative effects on the educational work in the Children's Village.
14 family houses currently house 140 children, aged between 1 and 18 years old and the public, village kindergarten is over flowing with 90 children. There is great demand from the children outside to secure one of the places in the Hermann Gmeiner school. The now nine class primary and secondary school is more than full with 319 pupils and is open all day, lessons in the classical subjects are given in the morning and in the afternoon courses in foreign languages, music, dance, drawing, typing, and computer science.
